To best manage the population’s investment, we’re leading the way in world class procurement.

As Europe’s largest single organisation and with a budget of £100 billion, the NHS as a purchaser has considerable spending power. It’s by making the most of this fact that its world class procurement hub re:source managed to save 29% of the NHS East Midlands IT budget by working with thirteen NHS trusts to win better prices for their computer equipment.

The IT hardware tender, which capitalised on the number of computers involved and the amount of money being spent, has saved an average of 23% on desktops and 34% on laptops across the East Midlands region. With an overall budget of £7 million, this saved the NHS the significant sum of £2 million.

The tender also made it quicker, cheaper and easier to order IT equipment, and enabled the NHS to ensure that the performance of the equipment is continually measured and improved. With so much money at stake, the NHS is leading the way in putting it to the best use possible.
