The Scheme

The NHS Graduate Management Training Scheme is a comprehensive programme that aims to equip graduates with the expertise needed to become successful leaders in the NHS. Challenging work placements will enable new managers to develop the skills and confidence required to lead the ongoing transformation of NHS services.

We look to develop our graduates into leaders by providing them with the skills and confidence they need to lead transformation, whilst also maintaining the delicate balance of equitable access and affordability. It's about providing graduates with the opportunity to demonstrate their talents, whilst also offering them the right tools, training and support they need to get the best start to their career. What's more, we see they're equipped and properly prepared to then progress in their career and make their mark with us.

The graduate scheme consists of four specialisms each of which includes a post graduate academic/professional qualification:

  • Finance Management
  • General Management
  • Human Resources Management
  • Health Informatics Management

Just as the NHS continues to evolve, innovate and change, so too does our graduate scheme. All of our trainees must be prepared to deal with the ever changing health needs of the population and the ever evolving landscape of the NHS.

The outstanding results achieved by our graduates demonstrate the high quality of work placements, education and support offered to our trainees and as a result we continue to be placed among the top graduate employers in the world.

Our Graduate Scheme is open to everyone who meets our entry requirements, both graduates and current NHS staff. But whatever your background, you must be ready to tackle the huge challenges we face, share our commitment to creating a world-class healthcare service and have a desire to be a leader within the NHS.
